Wellonai
Often known simply as “the Continent”, Wellonai is a bustling mix of old and new. Even as the train lines go in, there is still magic deep within the veins of the land.
Berill
Berill is an upstart, founded on the western peninsula by raiders from the Isles of Dawn. Despite only having some eight hundred years of history, Berill is quickly outstripping its neighbors with trains and telegraph wires. As its factories spread commerce throughout Wellonai, their culture comes with it, often with violent consequences.
Amoriai
Two thousand years ago, Amoriai was home to the great Southern Empire of the conqueror Elomikarus. Now, they’re the bread belt of the Erril Basin, with wide fields of grain and a people who’d prefer to remember better times.
The Three Sisters
Made up of nearly thirty individual princedoms, the Three Sisters are a loose federation of cousins who have tried to stick together throughout their many squabbles. After being more or less subjugated by Berill, there isn’t much left to the old ways, though their high mountains and deep forests still hold memories of days long past.
Ekosinar
The best merchants in the Continent, Ekosinarans pride themselves on their ships and wagon caravans that crisscross every possible causeway of Wellonai. Their capital is in Ageleat at the tip of the Ekosinaran Peninsula, and they sit on the edge of the world where their legendary olive groves are only outdone by the long Canal that carries goods from every kingdom.
The Mother’s Valley
The Mother’s Valley is a barren, rock-filled place, set on the dry side of its planet beyond an impassable desert. Life in the valley is provided by Sen’el’seng the mountain of the gods, sending life-giving water throughout a massive network of caverns connecting the kingdoms of the land. Each kingdom sits in a basin, a break in the rock where the river briefly enters sunlight. Each kingdom has access to ancient pillars of power, given by their ancestors and full of magic.
Pen’dil Zenn
The most prosperous of the basins, Zenn is known for its abundant magic-granting food. They have the most diverse set of ancient pillars and thus have access to every kind of magic. However, food in the basin – and the power it grants – is tightly controlled by the crown and their group of faceless sorcerers known as the Masked Ones.
Pen’dil Deyn
The coldest of the basins, Deyn sits in the mountains underneath Sen’el’tul, the bald mountain full of fire. Known for their forges, their knights can wield the wind itself, their swords brimming with Identity. They went to war with Zenn fifteen years ago, a conflict that still scars the mountain kingdom.
Pen’dil Sing
The most populous of the basins, Sing specializes in the use of Passion, the ability linked with combustion. Their sailors are renowned throughout the valley for their ability to navigate the caves, their boats following a mysterious network of hidden lamps that show them the way.
